People love to travel the Old Line State and beyond in Baltimore RV rentals from Cruise America. From the shores of the Atlantic to the DC area, the hills of the Piedmont region to Chesapeake Bay, there's plenty to discover in the Maryland area.

Just an hour north of Baltimore is Elkton. This city is not only the county seat of Cecil County, it’s also the location of our Baltimore rental center.

If history is your thing, take your rental RV on a journey through time to Annapolis, which is only a half-hour drive from Baltimore. This colonial-era city served as the nation's very first capital in the years before Washington, DC was built, and remains Maryland's capital today. While there, you can visit some of the historical attractions such as the Maryland State House, the Navy/Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, the National Cryptologic Museum, the Paca House and Garden or the Thomas Point Shoal Light Station. Or, you could just rent a boat for the day, eat fresh seafood or do some window-shopping. Better yet, do it all!

To get an up-close look at the story of the Civil War, head to Antietam National Battlefield, the site of one of the bloodiest battles between the North and the South. It is only about 70 miles from Baltimore. This is the site of General Robert E. Lee's first invasion of the North. While there you can visit the Antietam National Cemetery to pay respects. You can then spend the rest of the day hiking and exploring the beautiful area.

Your “inner-historian” would want to take your rental RV from Baltimore to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, which is just a 57-mile jaunt. This is the location of the costliest battle of the American Civil War. There is a museum and a visitor center where your family can learn all about the war. In addition, there is the Gettysburg National Military Park, where forty miles of scenic roadways wind through over 1,400 monuments, marks and memorials commemorating the battle. The park is open year-round, but the park buildings are closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day. The grounds and roadways are open daily from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. from April 1 through October 31, and 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. from November 1 through March 31. The cemetery is open at dawn and closes at sunset.
