Massachusetts offers a number of incredible day trips starting with Boston, and covering the surrounding area.
From Boston the trip is a quick hour and 15 minutes to Cape Cod in your Cruise America RV. Because of the comfort of your motorhome, you will not even realize you have been on the road for more than a few minutes! When you arrive you will find a myriad of things to do and places to visit. There are an endless number of quaint harbors and gorgeous weathered beaches, dunes and rugged guiding lighthouses. Bike ride past the cranberry bogs along the Rail Trail, or visit the Cape's oldest town, Sandwich. If you are an appreciator of unique architecture, you are in for a treat. You will see old homes with weathered shingles, whaling captains' mansions, and miles of beautiful shoreline. As far as dining goes, visit some of the many chowder shacks, or visit the many upscale restaurants for the freshest, tastiest seafood you will find anywhere. Also, don't skip out on visiting Martha's Vineyard and Provincetown. To arrive in Cape Cod from Boston, take I-93 south to Route 3. You'll cross the Sagamore Bridge, which spans the Cape Cod Canal. At the rotary, connect with U.S. 6 and follow the signs. There are dozens of RV parks all along Cape Cod Bay to choose from should you decide to stay the night.
While in Cape Cod, be sure to visit the nearby town of Brewster. Here you will find enough activities to keep you busy for much longer than you probably have time for! Nickerson State Park, for instance is a 1900-acre playground for the entire family. You will find a great deal of camping available (over 400 campsites), hiking trails, horseback and mountain bike riding, and an eight-mile-long bike path that connects to the Cape Cod Rail Trail. Enjoy fishing, canoeing and swimming. There are also wheelchair accessible beaches, camping, fishing, picnicking facilities and restrooms.
Another Brewster attraction in the bay area of the cape is Crosby Landing Beach. Known as the best flats in the area, it is great for kids, as there are hardly any waves. Be aware, however, that the black flies do get bad at night, which is not uncommon for other beaches down the cape.
Another popular destination in Cape Cod is the town of Sandwich. For the history buffs in your travel party, this town was settled in 1637. It was named after the seaport of Sandwich, Kent, England. You will find endless historic homes here, set in the rich beauty of the area.
These are just a few things to do in your Cruise America rental motorhome from North Boston. In reality, we have not scratched the surface of activities that are available for you and your family to enjoy in Massachusetts.
