why rent an rv in Chicago Illinois?

The Windy City becomes a “breeze” to explore when you rent a Cruise America class C RV from our Northwest Chicago rental location. We can provide you with just the right motorhome to suit your needs. There are a host of things to do in Chicago, and even more things to do in the surrounding areas. Here are a few suggestions:

Navy Pier: For over a decade, the Navy Pier has been where locals meet vacationers to enjoy a day (or days) of fun and beauty on Lake Michigan. The historical pier is a tradition that continues to grow, with more and more to see and do each passing year. It is currently the home of the Cirque Shanghai show. If you arrive at the right time of the year, you will see the BigArt show, featuring the artistic talent of the world. Some of the world's most renowned sculpture artists as well as mural artists come to participate or have their entries on display. You will find anything from a 30-foot-tall Roy Lichtenstein sculpture to a towering sculpture made of canoes that are suspended over the park. You will also enjoy rides, boat cruises and attractions of all kinds, along with various entertainment events all throughout the year. The Navy Pier is open year-round (closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas). However, general operating hours vary depending on the seasons, and may be subject to change. There is no admission fee to get onto the pier.

While in Chicago, do not miss the Museum of Science and Industry. To walk into this menagerie of a museum is like walking into a different world. This is the largest science museum in the Western Hemisphere. You can watch live science experiments, explore full-size ships and airplanes, watch as a tornado is created and an avalanche is purposely caused. There are exhibits like you have never seen before, such as Animals Inside Out, a stunning look at the animal world without skin. Experts are always on hand to help you should you require assistance in understanding what you are looking at. The museum is open every day of the year except for Thanksgiving and Christmas. The regular hours are from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. There is a fee to get in and prices vary, depending on the type of ticket you purchase.

Andersonville is a North Side neighborhood where you can go for great food and wonderful boutique shopping. It’s anchored by the Swedish American Museum, and is home to one of the nation’s largest LGBT communities. It is recognized for its diversity, and always exudes a quirky atmosphere and a distinctive flavor. There are a myriad of restaurants and eateries, but you won’t find any chain restaurants here; these are all locally-owned, independent businesses. What you will find are specialty bakeries, a rocking bar scene and a huge array of stylish boutiques. No doubt, this neighborhood is a prime example of colorful urban living. It has become one of the most popular neighborhoods on the North Side. This area is easily accessible by cab, but you don't need one because you have your rental motorhome from Cruise America. Don't miss this opportunity for a culturally diverse time.

The John Hancock Center on Michigan Avenue in downtown Chicago features a stunning black exterior that rises 100 stories into the air. The building stands 1,127 feet high. From the observatory up top, you can see a 360° view of the city, as many as four different states, and up to 80 miles away.

The Chicago Botanical Gardens is located 20 miles north of Chicago. There you will see the colors and smell the fragrances of the season. The gardens opened about 40 years ago as a beautiful place to visit. It has now become one of the most visited premier living museums in the world. Over 1,000,000 visitors come to the gardens annually. People of all ages can visit and appreciate the gardens by taking classes or participating in some of the many educational activities.

Whether you are in the mood to explore the downtown area of Chicago on foot, or by RV, you can be assured that there is plenty to see. You may wish to get out of town and go on some short excursions. No matter what you decide, you will have a blast in or out of one of our Northwest Chicago motorhomes.
