From Columbus, you may wish to take a two and a half-hour trip to visit the world famous Children's Museum of Indianapolis, ranked as the top rated kid's museum in the country. It is not just for kids, by the way; the five-story playground offers hours and hours of educational entertainment for the whole family. It is so popular, in fact, that over one million kids and parents visit the museum each year. You will experience the Dinosphere, featuring life size roaring dinosaur skeletons. As you approach the museum you will see a five-story-high dinosaur standing up against the building, poking its head into the fifth story to see what is going on inside. You should arrange to park your Cruise America motorhome in one of the nearby RV parks so that you can spend more than just one day at the museum. To get there from Columbus, just get onto I-70 and point your motorhome west and drive 175 miles. Follow the signs that say Interstate 70 W/Dayton/Rich Street/Town Street.
Just one hour (54 miles) out of Columbus you can visit one of Ohio's most popular tourist attractions; Ohio Caverns. Ohio Caverns is the largest, and by far the prettiest, of all the known caves in Ohio. The crystal-white stalactite and stalagmite formations are abundant, unlike anywhere else. The formations are diverse, and the coloring is fascinating. Each of these formations is a work in progress, constantly developing and changing. No matter what the temperature is outside, the temperature inside the caves remains at a constant 54 degrees Fahrenheit. This is an incredible opportunity for the entire family to have fun and learn at the same time. There is a 35-acre park located just above the caverns, where you will find shelter houses, picnic tables, and a playground. You can even try your hand at gem mining. To get to the caverns from Columbus take US 33 Northwest to State Route 245 West (Marysville, Ohio) and it is 19 miles further to the caverns.
No matter what you do or where you go in the Ohio area, it will always be more enjoyable if you do it in a Cruise America rental RV. Give us a try … and you'll be hooked.
