It is a quick trip on I-75 South towards Toledo (entering Ohio), then exit at 208 onto I-280 S, then exit 1A to merge onto I-80E/I-90E toward Cleveland and follow the signs to 1 Cedar Point Drive Sandusky, OH. If you'd like to stay for a few days, you can park your motorhome in the beautiful Camper Village located at the park, just steps from the entrance. The amenities include deluxe sites with water, sewer, electricity and cable hookups, bathhouses with private showers and pump out stations. While in the park, experience Millennium Force (the best steel coaster on the planet), four great kids' areas complete with kid sized rides, shows and games, Soak City Water Park, tons of live entertainment, and the Cedar Point mile-long beachfront location along the gorgeous Lake Erie. If you get hungry, you can eat at the world famous Pink's Hot Dogs, where they will pile so many toppings on your frank, you'll have to eat it with a fork.
Another awesome day trip from Detroit is a venture to Ann Arbor for a load of outdoor activities and entertainment for your family. There are always fairs and festivals to attend, such as the Ann Arbor Arts Festival. You can also swing into the Waterloo farm Museum, which focuses on the era of the Civil War. You can watch reenactments as the soldiers and townsfolk go through the every day routines they followed in those days. Bear in mind that the Waterloo Museum is only open on the weekends. Out of Detroit, it is only a 45-minute jaunt on M-14 W, and it's well worth the short drive.
