On your next adventure in the Detroit area you can hit the road in one of our Detroit RV rentals from our Cruise America rental center in Westland, just outside of Motor City. You can enhance your culture by visiting the number 1 ranked attraction, the Detroit Institute of Arts. You may choose to groove to the beat at Motown’s eclectic mix of live concerts for any musical taste. While you are into the Motown mood, visit the Motown Historical Museum where artists such as Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, the Supremes, the Four Tops, the Temptations, the Miracles and Smokey Robinson recorded their greatest hits. Take in a game any time of the year at one of the city’s multiple sporting complexes, or explore Bell Isle Park, an island park full of adventure and family fun. Step into history in one of Detroit’s premiere museums. Or, use Detroit as a jumping off point to your Great Lakes State adventure, where 11,000 inland lakes await you. There are a great number of things to see and do in Detroit, but getting out of the town and taking some day trips can be a blast, especially when you are traveling in a Cruise America rental RV.

If you are in the mood for some family thrill fun, consider a visit to the Cedar Point Amusement Park, located just two hours from Detroit. It is a quick trip on I-75 South towards Toledo (entering Ohio), then exit at 208 onto I-280 S, then exit 1A to merge onto I-80E/I-90E toward Cleveland and follow the signs to 1 Cedar Point Drive Sandusky, OH. If you'd like to stay for a few days, you can park your motorhome in the beautiful Camper Village located at the park, just steps from the entrance. The amenities include deluxe sites with water, sewer, electricity and cable hookups, bathhouses with private showers and pump out stations. While in the park, experience Millennium Force (the best steel coaster on the planet), four great kids' areas complete with kid sized rides, shows and games, Soak City Water Park, tons of live entertainment, and the Cedar Point mile-long beachfront location along the gorgeous Lake Erie. If you get hungry, you can eat at the world famous Pink's Hot Dogs, where they will pile so many toppings on your frank, you'll have to eat it with a fork.

Another awesome day trip from Detroit is a venture to Ann Arbor for a load of outdoor activities and entertainment for your family. There are always fairs and festivals to attend, such as the Ann Arbor Arts Festival. You can also swing into the Waterloo farm Museum, which focuses on the era of the Civil War. You can watch reenactments as the soldiers and townsfolk go through the every day routines they followed in those days. Bear in mind that the Waterloo Museum is only open on the weekends. Out of Detroit, it is only a 45-minute jaunt on M-14 W, and it's well worth the short drive.

No matter where your adventures take you from Detroit/Westland, you are bound to have a great time, only enhanced by the comfort and convenience of traveling in one of our Cruise America rental RVs.
