Grand Canyon: Who can visit the northern part of Arizona without visiting one of the natural wonders of the world? Just 70 minutes from Flagstaff, the south rim of the Grand Canyon will leave you in awe at what Mother Nature is capable of. For the adventurous types, you can hike down to the floor of the canyon. However, remember that everything that goes down must come back up! If you're not up for the long and arduous 8-mile hike back up, you might consider taking advantage of the pack mules that will carry canyon visitors on their backs. From Flagstaff, Take I-40 west to Highway 64. Take Highway 64 north directly to the South Rim. The trip is only about 70 minutes.
Sedona: Referred to as "Red Rock Country," Sedona is a magical place. Just a 45-minute drive through the breathtaking Oak Creek Canyon heading south on Highway 89, it's easy and enjoyable to get to. No matter what your interests are, there is something for everyone in this Mecca of beauty. The emphasis of this small community is on arts and culture, shopping and spiritual & metaphysical activities. There are several gorgeous RV parks in which you can settle in for the night should you choose to make this a multi-day visit. You will marvel at the monoliths (large rock formations) that are visible from all over town. They are named after the shapes they take on, such as Coffeepot Rock, Bell Rock, Snoopy Rock and Chimney Rock. Sedona is the home to what many refer to as spiritual energy vortexes, drawing psychics and healers from around the world. You may choose to get a massage, or get a psychic reading. Oh, and there are a great number of fine eateries to satisfy your comfort creatures. Sedona is RV friendly, providing camping amenities of all kinds to visitors.
No matter where your Arizona travels take you, you're going to enjoy the views from your Cruise America motorhome.
