RV Rental in Riverside (Norco), CA
There are a million things to do and see when you travel in one of our Cruise America Riverside RV rentals. Take a reverent walk through the Riverside National Cemetery. Stroll the central boulevard and take in the beauty of the memorial circles, lakes, indigenous-styled committal shelters and a memorial amphitheater. This renowned military cemetery is the home of the Medal of Honor Memorial. It is also one of four sites recognized as a Medal of Honor Memorial Site. There is also the Fallen Soldier/Veteran's Memorial and a Prisoner of War/Missing in Action National Memorial. What a great way for your family to pay reverent thanks to those who served and made the ultimate sacrifice for us. After the cemetery, consider paying a visit to the March Field Air Museum. A good way to spend your evening would be by heading to the Fox Performing Arts Center and catching a show.
For some great family adventure, there are several good daytrips to be taken from Riverside. As an example:
Head from Riverside to Palm Springs, the "Vacation Spot to the Stars." To get there from Riverside, take CA-60 and I-10 E to CA-111. Continue on C-111 to Alejo Rd. Here in this resort city in Riverside County, you may choose to visit the San Jacinto Mountains and catch the view from the San Jacinto Peak, one of the most prominent peaks in the country. Take a thrill ride on the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, which will take you 2.5 miles up into a pristine wilderness. It's the largest rotating aerial tramway in the world. Visit the Palm Springs Art Museum, the Air Museum or visit the Living Desert Zoo and Gardens.
In Palm Springs you will find the Tahquitz Canyon. The legend goes that this canyon was named after Tahquitz, who was the first shaman created by Mukat, the creator of all things. Tahquitz subsequently became evil and was banished to this canyon, which now bears his name. It is said that his spirit can still be seen from time to time in the form of a green fireball streaking across the landscape of the canyon. The periodic shaking of the ground and rumbling in the mountains are attributed to Tahquitz stomping about through the canyon.
Just an hour from Riverside is the Salton Sea. This is the largest lake in California, and encompasses 378 square miles of water sports and outdoor recreation, such as swimming, birding, camping and fishing for Tilapia (which is the only fish that can survive in that water). The lake is not a pristine, clean lake to frolic in; it's more of a "dead" lake with highly salty water. The unique lake may smell from time to time, and you may spot dead fish now and then, but it is quite a sight to behold. The waterfowl is abundant, and makes for incredible bird watching. To get there from Riverside, make the 1.5-hour trip by traveling east on I-10.
It doesn't really matter which direction you point your rental RV from Cruise America. If you're in the Riverside area, there will never be a shortage of things to see and do.
