To quiet things down a bit, enter into the serenity of the Hatcher Garden and Woodland Preserve. It provides a beautiful, meditative setting with plenty of benches along the running stream. Just 30 minutes west on Hwy 85 is Greenville. Here, you will find plenty of buying opportunities in any of the town’s one-of-a-kind shopping districts. While in Greenville, you may wish to attend a performance at the Peace Center. This is a highly admired venue for local artists and culture buffs. You can breathe in the fresh air of Falls Park, which is an outdoor recreation center that follows the Reedy River as it winds through downtown Greenville.

Just 80 miles west of Greenville along the western border of South Carolina is the rafting chance of a lifetime. You can park your Cruise America rental RV in one of the many beautiful RV parks in the area and hop on a river rafting adventure along the 40-mile stretch of the Chattooga River, which crisscrosses back and forth into Georgia. You can find departure points for the river rafting in the towns of Mountain Rest and Long Creek. To get there from Greenville, look for the Clemson Hwy 76 West exit off I-85 South. Follow it to Clemson and turn left onto Hwy 76/123. Stay on 76/123 towards Seneca and then Westminster, SC. Follow directions from Westminster.

As long as you're in the adventurous mode, how about taking the family on a Gorge Zipline Canopy Tour? Just a short distance from Spartanburg in Saluda, North Carolina, you can zip through the trees strewn along the famous Green River Gorge. Here you will find 11 zip lines, two huge rappels and a sky bridge. From the beginning to the end, you will drop over 1,100 feet over some of the most breathtaking scenery known to mankind. Leave your valuables in the motorhome, because it can be a thrill ride! To get there from Spartanburg, travel west on I-26 to Exit 59 (Saluda). At the bottom of the exit ramp, go right onto Holbert Cove Road. In approximately a quarter mile, turn left onto Honey Bee Drive and head to the top of the gravel road.

Chimney Rock State Park is a great destination in your Cruise America rental RV, and from Spartanburg it’s only about an hour and 15 minutes. You will be mesmerized at the breathtaking views that extend 75 miles over Lake Lure, NC, as well as the Blue Ridge Mountains. Here you will find intriguing geological formations, four established hiking trails and scenery that you only thought existed in storybooks. You can take an elevator that is literally built inside the mountain, which will lift you 26 stories up the trail to the Chimney Level. If you continue your ascension, it will have to be on foot. When you reach the easily recognized "Devil's Head" formation and the "Opera Box," it's a good opportunity to catch your breath before continuing on up to Exclamation Point, the highest point you can reach, towering 2,480 ft. in the air. This popular viewpoint was featured in the movie, Last of the Mohicans. To get to Chimney Rock from Spartanburg, Follow Interstate 26 West into North Carolina. At the first exit in North Carolina, Exit #67 (Columbus and Highway 108), turn right onto Highway 108 East. Follow 108 East for approximately 6 miles to the intersection of Highway 108 and Highway 9 (a traffic stoplight). Turn left onto Highway 9 North. Go 14 miles to the stop sign (Lake Lure will be in front of you). Turn left at the stop sign onto Highway 64/74A West. Go 4 miles and the Park entrance will be on the left.
