Boston

Sometimes referred to as Beantown, Boston is loaded with things to do and great places to visit in your Cruise America rental motorhome.

There are a large number of RV parks in the Boston area if you choose to station your rental RV in one of them. Boston is a great walking town, so you might as well leave the RV in the park and save the traffic jams and parking issues for someone else.

While in Boston, wander the Freedom Trail. It is a 2.5-mile path that hosts 16 important historical sites pertaining to the Revolutionary War. There are guided tours with costumed escorts to take you along the path, or you can download the map and guide your own tour. If you don't have much time, concentrate on the sites around the North End. This area is known as Boston's “Little Italy.” Some of these sites include the home of Paul Revere, the Old North Church where the two well-known lanterns were displayed to warn Paul Revere that the British were coming by sea, and the Old State House Museum, where you will find a large number of impressive memorabilia items from the Revolutionary War, including a vial of tea that was preserved from the original "Boston Tea Party."
Located in the thriving downtown Boston area just off the waterfront is the Faneuil Hall Marketplace. It was proclaimed the "Cradle of Liberty" in 1742 by our nation's fathers. Today it is alive and well. There are over 70 retailers and 40 office tenants in the 360,000 square feet of this iconic mixed-use festival marketplace. If you can't find what you are looking for here, it probably doesn't exist!

If you want to venture out of Boston Proper, there are several day trips to be enjoyed in your recreational vehicle from Cruise America. A good example would be a visit to Providence in Rhode Island, located just an hour away. There you will find, amongst hundreds of other attractions, the WaterFire Art Display.

WaterFire Providence is an organization that has set out to revitalize the urban experience and inspire Providence and its visitors. You will marvel at the powerful moving work of art that comes in the form of over eighty sparkling bonfires that hover on the surface of the waters of the three rivers of downtown Providence. You will smell the smoky aromatic wood burning and see the silhouettes of the fire tenders against the blazing sculptures. There are also flickering fires on the arched bridges along with the torch-lit vessels on the river. There is enchanting music from around the world playing, so as to add to the number of senses that take in the beauty. This attraction has drawn over 10,000,000 visitors thus far. To arrive at Providence from Boston, take I-93 South to I-95 South and it will take you right into Providence.

Other nearby areas to visit are Cape Cod, New Hampshire, Mashantucket, Lincoln, Springfield, Burlington, Agawam, Salem and Portsmouth.
