why rent an rv in New Mexico?

New Mexico is called the “Land of Enchantment” for good reason – there`s more to see and do here then you could ever imagine! From the ominous-sounding “Truth or Consequences” to beautiful Santa Fe, any vacation to New Mexico is going to be action-packed. So secure your Cruise America RV rental and plan your destinations around the state. Going by RV in New Mexico has many benefits, including giving you control over where you go and how long your vacation lasts. As you set out, be sure to visit these “can`t-miss” destinations!

Checking Out Truth or Consequences

Affectionately called “T or C,” Truth and Consequences is not quite as scary as it sounds. In fact, it`s quite the opposite! Located in Sierra County, it`s a beautiful resort town with a population size of about 6,000. Truth and Consequences was once called “Hot Springs” due to the fact that it is full of ancient hot springs fed from the Rio Grande. Soaks in the hot springs were once prescribed as remedies to cure ailments, but today the springs are frequented for a refreshing and rejuvenating dip. After a day exploring by RV in New Mexico, the city`s diverse culinary scene offers something for every palette.

Visiting White Sands National Monument

Cruising in your motorhome rental to the the White Sands National Monument, you will think you`ve just walked into the Sahara Desert. Rippled white sand stretches to the horizon, where it`s met by an impossibly deep blue sky. At the visitor`s center, we suggest stopping in to learn how the site`s stunning dunes, made of the rare gypsum sand, are formed. A guided tour is a fine way to see the monument, but getting a nighttime tour by bike under a full moon is even better!

Exploring Carlsbad Caverns National Park

Going by RV to southern New Mexico, Carlsbad Caverns National Park is essential to see for its spectacular caves, which number over 100! The park is located in the Chihuahuan Desert, and you can easily make a day`s worth of seeing all that it offers through your Cruise America rv rental. Don`t leave without checking out the Big Room, which is a large underground chamber with giant stalactites hanging from the ceiling. Another wonderful site at the part is Rattlesnake Springs, which is a desert wetland teeming with many different types of birds and reptiles. After exploring the park, take some time to explore the town of Carlsbad itself. Museums, art centers, and the Living Desert State Park are notable attractions.

Spending Time in Taos

On the opposite end of the state is the city of Taos. If there`s one city you must visit while you`re cruising by RV rental, it`s Taos. Taos is located in the northern part of New Mexico. If you`re traveling by motorhome rental in warm weather, you can take advantage of parking and camping out in this spectacularly beautiful area. The city of Taos features a number of historic sites and buildings. One is the Taos Pueblo, which is an adobe complex that`s been inhabited by Native Americans for many years. Since Taos is a mecca for artists, you`ll find a number of art museums and galleries here, too.

The Unforgettable Albuquerque Balloon Festival

If you`ll be in New Mexico during the month of October, we highly recommend checking out the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. Each year, this popular event draws professional balloonists and balloon enthusiasts from around the world. When you rent an RV in New Mexico, you have the benefit of parking your vehicle and staying to watch as little or as much of the festival as you wish. Balloon rides, a laser light show, and a final fireworks display are all part of the fun!

Seeing Old Town Albuquerque

Whether you`ve arrived in Albuquerque because of the Balloon Fiesta or you`re just passing through, we recommend paying a visit to Old Town Albuquerque. With your Cruise America RV, you can stop in for as long as you want to check out this enchanting and historic part of the city. Here you`ll find ancient adobe houses that now house trendy restaurants and bars. Tucked amongst them are small shops selling magnificent handmade items like rugs, pottery, and jewelry. The Old Town Plaza, which is framed by an 18th century church, is the perfect place to stop for a photo op. Also in the old town (and a great place to bring kids) is the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science.

With so much to see and do in New Mexico, you`ll probably find yourself wanting to spend more time there than you initially planned. For that reason, it makes sense to travel by RV, where you can take your time exploring. Between its ancient cities and spectacular natural landscapes, New Mexico certainly tops our list of places to visit!
