why rent an rv in Olympia Washington?

Olympia is the capital city of the state of Washington, as well as the county seat for Thurston County. Based partially on its coffee, Olympia ranks among the top 29 cities in the nation (according to National Geographic Traveler Magazine). It is a great starting point for an RV excursion to explore the Pacific Northwest, and Cruise America just happens to have a new rental location right here!

For a good way to get a taste of Olympia, start with a free coffee cupping at the flagship café of the Olympia Coffee Roasters, located downtown. At lunchtime, it would behoove you to enjoy the locally-made kombucha at the Olympia Farmers Market. It is open every Saturday through March, then Thursday through Sunday from April through October. Here you will find some of the best seafood, produce, cheeses and locally-produced foods, and it’s all under one roof.

If you decide to walk off some lunch, you will find a gentle, half-mile trail around the Deschutes River. There is an easy-to-get-to waterfall called Tumwater Falls, and the trail makes for a good way to get out and stretch your legs. No matter what time of the year you’re there, it is very enjoyable to take this mini-adventure. Oh, and no need to leave Fido behind, as the trail is pet friendly!

Here’s a good idea for the wine connoisseurs in the group: Choose a designated driver who despises the taste of wine, gather a picnic lunch, and launch into an adventure of scenery and tasting opportunities that manifest themselves along the Bountiful Byway. Some great places to stop and smell the … Rosé are the Medicine Creek Winery, the Salish Seas Organic Liqueurs, the Stottle Winery and the Madsen Family Cellars.

You can get some fresh air, enjoy jaw-dropping scenery, spot the area’s wildlife and watch a gorgeous sunset by visiting the Billy Frank Jr Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge. It is located where the freshwater of the Nisqually River meets the saltwater of south Puget Sound, creating the Nisqually River Delta.

If you are a beer drinker, you might want to end your day by checking out the food and craft beer from the visiting food truck at the Top Rung Brewing Company. This is a singular brewery run by local firefighters, and you’re guaranteed to have a great time.

Downtown Olympia holds countless treasures found in the form of locally-owned boutiques, shops and eateries. Or, if you have youngsters in the group (especially from ages birth to ten), you may wish to visit the award-winning Hands On Children’s Museum. Each year this museum is recognized in the King 5 Best of Western Washington contest as being one of the best and most fun places for the entire family.

Perched at the northeast tip of the Olympic Peninsula is a magical combination of land and sea with panoramic views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca, as well as the mountain ranges of Olympic and Cascade. The 2-hour drive is part of the fun of getting there. You can navigate your Cruise America motorhome north from the Olympia area along the ever-so-scenic Highway 101 to arrive.

Other great daytrips from Olympia are the Olympic National Park, Mount Rainier, Mount St Helens, the coastline itself, and even Seattle. There is no greater joy than making precious memories with your family, and there is no better way to do it than in a rental RV from Cruise America!
