Expected Gas Prices for Summer 2023

After the unstable gas price trends of 2022, consumers may find some relief in 2023. According to the American Automobile Association, the average price of regular gasoline in 2022 was $4.204 a gallon, and premium gas was $4.867. In comparison, the current average price of regular gasoline in 2023 has decreased to $3.586, with premium gasoline at $4.339. 

Experts suggest that the average price for a gallon of gasoline may range from $3.79 to $4.19 in June 2023. The gas prices have significantly declined in 2023 compared to June 2022, where the highest recorded price was a whopping $5.016 per gallon. Analysts expect summer gas prices to continue rising to $4.50 per gallon over the next few months. However, if the economy slows down and the demand for gas reduces, gas prices may remain stable or decrease. 

The U.S. Energy Information Administration has predicted that gas prices will reduce in the coming years. Regular gasoline prices are expected to average $3.32 per gallon in 2023 and $3.09 per gallon in 2024.

But the upcoming refinery expansion by the American multinational oil and gas corporation ExxonMobil may increase oil production capacity. 

The refinery expansion is expected to increase crude oil refining and gasoline production by 250,000 barrels.
