Philadelphia is a city steeped in history and culture. The very roots of our nation were fed by the events that took place in this intriguing community. The best way to explore Philly and the surrounding areas is in one of Cruise America`s Philadelphia RV rentals. While anyone with an interest in the birth and infancy of our nation will find countless things to see and do in the "City of Brotherly Love," there are more than just historical attractions.

The most visited attraction in Philadelphia is Reading Terminal Market. This farmer`s market is a virtual wonderland for appreciators of good food. There you will find local produce, as well as amazing sandwiches, artisanal cheeses, and desserts to die for. There are over six million visitors each year to the market. When you`ve had your fill of amazing eats, walk it off with a visit to the Independence Hall Historical Park, otherwise known as the birthplace of American democracy. It`s located on the same site as so many of the events that shaped our nation`s democracy. The most popular icon of this park is none other than the Liberty Bell, which was used to call the Pennsylvania Assembly to meetings. It`s easy to spot because of the prominent crack that was caused by the 44-pound clapper striking it.

If you decide to get out of the city, here`s an idea:
Just an hour northwest of Philadelphia runs a river full of summer fun. The Northbrook Canoe Company offers kayaking, tubing and canoeing, all of them an absolute blast. You can step out of your motorhome and choose one of the many canoe trips available. What a great way to tour the Brandywine Valley and Wyeth Country. Take a picnic. You can eat in the boat, or, if you prefer to eat on dry land, hop off onto one of the many picnic/barbeque areas along the river. The water runs nice and slow, and there are very light rapids. It`s perfect for the whole family. It`s just a half-hour trip south on I-95 from Philly.
