Whether you’re staying near San Diego or exploring Southern California, make sure you have a comfortable trip with one of the RV rentals in Fallbrook from Cruise America. Outdoor wanderers can explore the picturesque ponds, parks and river walks that surround the small town of Fallbrook, just north of Oceanside. In town, fall in love with Main Street as you shop or dine at the many locally owned stores and restaurants. For big-city excitement, take your Southern California RV rental to scenic San Diego. It's less than an hour away. You get there from Fallbrook by pointing your Cruise America rental RV south and taking I-15 S and you will end up there. Along the way, you will pass through Escondido, Encinitas, and La Jolla, which are all nice coastal places to visit.

There are several great RV parks in the San Diego area, and there are a lot of attractions to visit with your family. Here are a couple of ideas:

The USS Midway Museum is literally floating on the water, waiting for your visit. This real naval aircraft carrier was in service for 47 years before coming to rest in the Seaport Village area of San Diego. It is breathtaking to wander the decks of the ship and see just how vast it is, and learn how sailors would operate on a ship like that. The tour culminates with a visit to the top deck; where you will find actual jets, prop planes and helicopters of many kinds. They, too, have retired aboard this massive ship. Sailors who actually worked on the ship offer guided tours of the craft, and they are proud to show off the exhibits. The tour is appropriate for all ages, and kids under 5 are free, as well as active-duty military personnel, law enforcement and firefighters (with ID). Oh, and don't be in a hurry to get through the tour … take your time, as there is a lot to digest. There are several special events, so check the Midway calendar online to see what you may like to attend. The Midway is open to the general public from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM every day of the year, except for Thanksgiving and Christmas

Also in San Diego you may want to visit the Torrey Pines State Reserve. This park lies within the city limits, yet it is one of the most untamed landscapes along the Southern California coastline. The park occupies 2000 acres of land, and the atmosphere is just as it was hundreds of years ago … before San Diego even existed. You will find miles of unspoiled beaches, 8 miles of hiking trails, a visitor center and guided nature walks. Visitors come to this park to rest and unwind, taking in the breathtaking overlooks and peaceful atmosphere. What a great opportunity for family togetherness. Be advised that there is no food whatsoever allowed in the park, as the authorities don't want any foreign substances introduced to the ecology. However, feel free to picnic on the beach. The reserve is open year-round from 7:15 AM to sunset, which generally occurs from 5:00 PM in the winter to 8:00 PM in the summer. There are several RV parks close to Torrey Pines, so you needn't travel far to settle down for the night.

Wherever your travels take you, enjoy the ride in a Southern California RV rental from Cruise America!
