So, you'd like to check out the great state of Michigan? Well the best way to do it is to hop onboard one of our luxury Westland RV rentals and head into the vast “Water Wonderland.” You will be astonished at the family friendly activities that this area has to offer. Let’s start out at our local rental center, right here in Westland, Michigan. About 16 miles south of Detroit, Westland is a small town established in 1827 that has made a name for itself by recently being dubbed one of Americas top 50 cities to live in. Our Westland rental center is located just two-miles from the Westland Historic Park, where you can fill your head with the rich history and information on how this tiny town grew to be one of our nation’s most desired final destinations. But before you park your rental RV in town, how about venturing out into this city’s surrounding areas to get a taste of the Great Lakes State in all of its “waterful” glory!

With more than 11,000 lakes dotting this great state, as well as being the home of the first-ever established university, there are plenty of places for friends and family of all interests and ages to explore. To begin, consider visiting the action packed, Ann Arbor. Located just 13 miles west of Westland, Ann Arbor is a great stop along your trip, as it is the home to over 35,000 University of Michigan students that keep the town vibrant, fun, and diverse. While here, check out the array of intriguing museums. Choose from the University of Michigan Kelsey Museum of Archaeology, The University of Michigan Museum of Art, The Museum of Natural History, and/or the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library. If exploring museums causes you to work up an appetite, then you can pack on that "freshman 15" in any of Ann Arbor's 300+ taste bud tingling restaurants. And don’t forget to check out the many “mom-n-pop” gift shops for unique souvenirs.

Next, pack up the family and head down I-96W, where you'll get a taste of what lake life is all about, as you indulge in the sights and sounds of Muskegon County. After just a few hours driving in the comfort of your rental RV, you'll arrive at the shoreline of Lake Michigan, where summer visitors can enjoy fun-filled days and round them off with breathtaking sunsets. Winter guests can prepare for EXTREME fun as Muskegon County is home to one of only three luge tracks in the entire country. Now that's what a vacation is all about!

Once you have enjoyed Muskegon County, take a short, relaxing drive just one hour north toward Manistee County. Manistee County is not only one of nature’s gifts to all those that bask in the joy of fresh air at the Manistee National forest, but it's also home to Lake Michigan beaches, where winter and summer visitors can take local guided fishing tours, as well as a visit to the North Pierhead Lighthouse that stands almost 40 ft. over Manistee Harbor.

Wherever you are in Michigan, you are not far from one of the Great Lakes, and the fun that comes with it. You and your travel companions are sure to find an array of options for shore-side action along the roads of this beautiful state. So kick back and enjoy the ride, because Michigan is just waiting to be explored in your Cruise America rental RV.
