Camping in Yosemite Park

Yosemite. The name alone stirs the imagination, conjuring images of crashing waterfalls, towering sequoias and incredible trails. Celebrate summer with Yosemite RV camping.
Camping in Yosemite Park

One of the world’s finest wilderness parks, Yosemite is truly an emblem of the stunning scenery that defines the Golden State - making Yosemite camping one of the most sought-after summer vacations in California. Whether it’s your first or fiftieth time, Yosemite camping is an unforgettable experience.

Thankfully, Yosemite is home to several campgrounds, many of them ideal for Cruise America RV rentals. From the conveniences of Lower Pines to the rugged sites of Porcupine Flat, Yosemite RV camping offers many options. Read on for a complete list of Yosemite RV camping locations, and visit the National Park Service site to make reservations and find the latest information on camping in Yosemite Park.

YOSEMITE CAMPING: RESERVATIONS REQUIRED

If you’re planning your Yosemite RV camping trip early, make reservations at one of these campsites, all of which welcome RVs. However, many prime campgrounds are booked solid months in advance, so if you’re too late to reserve, skip to the next section for a list of unreserved Yosemite camping spots.

  • Upper, Lower and North Pines - These three campgrounds are located near Yosemite Village and Curry Village, providing easy access to amenities like showers, grocery stores, dump stations and more. Situated in tourist-heavy areas, you can expect a more boisterous Yosemite camping experience here.
  • Wawona - Located near the southern tip of the park, Wawona is conveniently located for travelers coming to the park from Highway 41 out of the Fresno area.
  • Bridalveil Creek - Located outside of Yosemite Valley, Bridalveil Creek offers easy roadside access, as well as close proximity to Glacier Point, a renowned star-gazing site.
  • Crane Flat - A bit quieter than the Pines campgrounds, Crane Flat is located off Highway 120 on the western edge of the park.
  • Hodgdon Meadow - Located near the Big Oak Flat entrance on the San Francisco side, Hodgdon Meadow is easy to get to, but just a bit off the beaten path.

YOSEMITE CAMPING: FIRST-COME, FIRST-SERVED

When planning your Yosemite camping trip, keep in mind that the park is exceptionally popular from April through October and camping in undeveloped areas is not permitted. Since spots fill quickly, your best bet is to show up early in the morning at one of these unreserved campgrounds and wait for others to vacate a spot.

  • White Wolf - Tucked away at 8,000 feet, White Wolf is around an hour north of Yosemite Valley. Although RVs are welcome, length cannot exceed 27 feet. If you’re planning Yosemite RV camping with a large Cruise America RV, stay at another campground.
  • Porcupine Flat - With no potable water and only non-flushing toilets, Porcupine Flat is low on amenities but high on beauty.
  • Toulomne Meadows - Although part of this campground takes reservations, much of Toulmne is unreserved. Located on the eastern side of the park, its location prevents many Bay Area travelers from visiting, so finding a spot may be easier here.
