Spot stars in the brilliant night sky. When the sun sets, another element of Cuyahoga shines. The brilliant night sky is worth a late-night trip to a lookout spot. On clear nights, visitors can gaze upon Mercury at Beaver Marsh.

According to the National Parks Service, Oak Hill Picnic Area on Oak Hill Road has the darkest skies. This makes these areas the perfect location to spot celestial bodies like stars, planets and meteors.

Sightsee from the seat of your train car. Not many national parks have a railroad running through them. The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad follows the river and allows visitors to spot wildlife and enjoy the natural beauty of the park. There are multiple stops along the ride, so travelers can step out into the sun before continuing.

Soak up the scenery on a hike. With over 125 miles of hiking trails located in the park, there’s no shortage of opportunities to get out and explore. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned professional, you’ll find a pathway that suits your skill level.

You can experience a range of landscapes, including wetlands meadows and forested areas, while traipsing through the trails. So lace up the hiking boots and get out there!

Hit the powder with snow sports. When winter coats the hills of Cuyahoga with fresh white snow, outdoor activities abound. Take the family sledding at Kendall Hills. Alternatively, you can hit the slopes on skis at Brandywine Ski Resort.

There are also tubing and snowshoeing options available. In short, there’s always something to do in the winter months at Cuyahoga. So bundle up and experience a winter wonderland!

Partake in a picnic with a view. Fun-filled days require fuel. Why not take lunch alongside a beautiful meadow or near a rushing waterfall? Cuyahoga has picnic tables across the park that are open to visitors who wish to slow down and enjoy a meal.

Many of these picnic areas come equipped with water stations and grills. Check out the list of picnic areas in Cuyahoga, courtesy of the National Park Service.
