Great Smoky Mountains National Park
National Geographic cites Great Smoky Mountains National Park as the number one national park tourist destination, with 11+ million visitors annually! Clearly, this is a must-see stop while you are in North Carolina! There is something to suit everyone, from educational exhibits to observation towers to amazing scenic drives and hikes if you are in the mood to get out and hoof it on foot.
Blueridge Parkway Scenic Drive
The Blueridge Parkway scenic drive is unlike any other nature tour you will take! This is why you rent a motorhome! The 469-mile drive features nonstop natural wonder as it takes you from Shenandoah National Park on one end to the Great Smoky National Park on the other end.
If you are a road warrior, you can see the Blueridge Parkway all in one day (allow at least 10 hours for a full one-way drive). But there is so much to see and do along the way that you may want to break up your trip to park your RV rental at one of the many lovely and welcoming parks and campgrounds you find along the way.

The Biltmore is located in picturesque Asheville, which is worth a stop in its own right. The Biltmore was originally built by George Vanderbilt as his family estate. It is still the largest home in the United States.
The 8,000 acre property houses a gorgeous gardens, the Estate winery and Biltmore Village, where you will find plenty of historic scenery, fun shopping, tasty eateries and guided tours to help you learn more.
Linville Gorge & Linville Falls
While you are in North Carolina, you can`t miss seeing the place that has been called "The Grand Canyon of the East!" This gorgeous area is nestled in the heart of the Pisgah National Forest. If you are planning to drive part or all of the Blueridge Parkway Scenic Drive, you can also catch glimpses of the Falls as you drive by, courtesy of four overlooks that dot the edges of the area. Or you can get out and stretch your legs with either of the two short hikes that get you up close and personal with local Falls and scenic mountain views.

Outer Banks and Cape Hatteras Lighthouse
The Outer Banks is a unique part of North Carolina. It is a small chain of islands just off the North Carolina coast that is easily accessible. You will find lots of RV-friendly parks scattered along the Outer Banks as well as many activities that offer something for everyone.
The area hosts the historic Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, which has already survived one move due to the eroding coastline. It also has a rumored 3,000+ shipwrecks, some of which are accessible for scuba divers. The Wright Brothers took their maiden flight here and you can explore a museum in their honor. And there is plenty of fishing, sunbathing, swimming, shopping and dining to be enjoyed as well!
